Take My Hand Gaza Twinning Day

On Sunday 14th August, 21 of the children from Take My Hand Free Educational Centre for orphans and poor students, are having a party.

This is one week after the terrible Israeli bombing, where 10 of their friends were killed (see Israel Attacks Gaza Friday 5th August 2022 – Twin Edinburgh with Gaza (twingaza.com) ).

In just 3 days last week we raised £625 for the Take My Hand Free Educational Centre for orphans and poor students, through the Edina-Gaza Twinning Association- from our extensive mailing list of supporters – for we have 700 people on the update list who care for Gaza and want to help, and every time there is a fresh crisis for the children – or something they need for the centre- some of them our supporters reach into their pockets and donate.

We need to do this crowdfunder because Gazans are blocked from using crowdfunding tools by Israel, even though people are starving and homeless. It is hosted by an Australian company that seems immune from Israeli pressure; go to Help Gazan Orphans to learn | Chuffed | Non-profit charity and social enterprise fundraising if you want to help.

Many of the children at the Take My Hand centre are without parents because of Israeli bombing. One girl who is now 9, lost all her family 4 years ago. At 5 years old, she was buried under the rubble of her house, close to death when the rescuers pulled her free. She found that her parents and all her bothers and sisters had been killed by Israel. The volunteers at the Take My Hand centre are helping this child and others like her put her life back together.

So yesterday, the centre decided to take the children’s minds off death and destruction by celebrating the twinning project. The children are thrilled that our 4 volunteers work with them on Zoom every Sunday teaching them English. Because they believe that nobody in the world cares for them.

Here are pictures from Gaza showing what the £625 raised helped to provide yesterday, in the Take My Hand Gaza Twinning Day :
